Worshipping One God
All are welcome! Come as you are. Each church has its own unique personality, but all are truly friendly and accepting of everyone. A few women do wear skirts or dresses, and a few men do wear suits. Most dress casual – slacks and polo shirts, shorts, slacks.
Second, you won’t be singled out as “new” nor asked to stand and introduce yourself in front of the whole group. Come, relax, join in as you are comfortable doing. Someone is likely to offer you a program (also called a bulletin) which guides us through the service, or to offer you a book to sing from (a hymnal). Don’t worry – you can’t do something “wrong!”
The first Sunday of the month we celebrate Communion at Mt. Pleasant and Mt. Zion. This is a time when we share as Jesus told us to, using bread and grape juice. We also have gluten-free wafers at Mt. Pleasant for those who need them. Communion is for those who want to be in relationship with God – Father, Son and Spirit – and to live as God would have. You don’t have to be a certain age (even children are welcome to Communion!) nor be a member of this church. We believe Jesus is the host and invites everyone. It is your choice – no one keeps track of who does or doesn’t receive Communion.
